![]() ![]() Update: here is one of the videos I was watching. I might have to reconfigure some things because IDK what I messed up to make it do that, I was doing a lot of stuff in the process like trying to add plugins and such, but it is what is is. So if someone, anyone can tell me how to change the 4v2l to read only one "/dev/video0" that would be great. I tried searching for this and I found a solution somewhere in my search, but it is long gone at this point. The problem is that v4l2 is trying to open two /dev/video0 to the applications (vlc/obs) so because there is a conflict, there is no image since the application doesn't know which one to read from so it cancels both. I figured out the problem but I don't know how to solve it. I ran this "sudo apt install v4l-utils v4l2loopback-dkms v4l2loopback-utils"īut now I have to run this "v4l2loopback-utils" but it say "v4l2loopback-utils: command not found" ![]() UPDATE: I found out there was more installing to do before it can work. UPDATE: I was able to see my webcam works with cheese but I still can't see anything in OBS Studio Thanks to anyone willing to help a complete newb out. My mic is: USB Microphone Kit 192KHZ/24BIT MAONO AU-A04T PC Condenser Podcast Streaming Cardioid Mic Plug & Play for Computer, YouTube, Gaming Recording My webcam is: PC Webcam for Streaming HD 1080P, Vitade 960A USB Pro Computer Web Camera Video Cam for Mac Windows Laptop Conferencing Gaming with Microphone & Ring Light So if someone knows how I can actually view what I am recording and also how to turn my mic up that would be awesome. I think my audio works fine, but it's a little low. I tried recording, but I still get no picture and don't know where to find my video recordings so I can't check with another program to see if my recording works or not. My problem isn't that I can't select V4L2 in the source section, but that I have no picture at all even when I have it selected. I have been searching all over and can't find a fix. OBS seems to be the best option along with Shortcut which I plan to use. I run a YouTube channel and I can't use my regular things I use for making videos. Like just installed it on Saturday night (2 days ago) new. Can't hurt to try.I am super new to Ubuntu, like really new. Restart and see if that will fire up the camera display. So - if you're having this issue, perhaps try making sure the camera displaying a blank screen is "activated" (but not anything else), and shut down OBS. It's definitely an OBS problem as I can't replicate it with any other apps using my camera array. I have no issues switching back and forth between the two in Zoom (and do regularly while teaching/streaming). In my instance I wonder if OBS just can't differentiate between the two even though it shows both separately as available devices (they have different default device names but are same manufacturer). Those can be deactivated at shutdown and still reactivate and display just fine upon reopening OBS. This is not the case with all my other cameras (I have 4 different cameras active during this test). So technically both cameras are now showing up, but i have to choose which one to actually use. I tried having both cameras active and then restarting.no joy. Whichever camera had been designated as active when the program was shut down - OBS would activate it again upon restart. OBS will display only ONE of my IPEVO webcams - and it must have the "eye" (display) activated upon closing the program previously. Played with it again tonight after reading this - and found the following. ![]() occasionally OBS doesn't want to show a camera but then restarting OBS will sometimes cause it to recognize/display it again. This may have been the OBS-VirtualCam MAC I installed. The new Start Virtual Camera button hasn't displayed below Start Streaming & Recording, but it has shown up under Tools > Start Virtual Camera. I'm running the latest version of Discord. I've been using its older sibling for a few years and with OBS with rarely any issues. I'm running OBS 26.0.2 (64bit) on macOS Mojave 10.14.2. Zoom and all other apps recognize it fine so it's obviously working.
